The Varsity Match

On the 26th of February, 2009 the annual Oxford-Cambridge Varsity Blind Wine-Tasting Match took place at the Oxford-Cambridge Club, Pall Mall, London. It was a very difficult match with some really tricky wines and truly well fought. Fortunately, for us, Cambridge emerged victorious, bringing the Pol Roger Cup back to its rightful home. As a prize, the team will get to travel to the Pol Roger estate in Epernay, Champage this summer and spend a few days visiting there. There were a number of exciting turns to the day, in addition to the team victory. Katherine Smith of our team tied with one of the oxford competitors for the position of “top taster” and Rosalynne Watt of our team took the title of “top reserve”. They each received an additional prize for those honours. Well done!!!
